Facebook has long been saying that Video uploaded directly to its website, will be shown to more people.
Considering the algorithms is so important when ‘using’ a platform not under your control (i.e. Facebook) to promote your business/product.
This is why I produce daily videos and upload them to Facebook. Look at the stats from my Facebook insights. This is a comparison of me against 5 other social media companies. You can clearly see that I have the most engagement from publishing just 1 post a day… a VIDEO post that is. Look at the largest company, nearly 5,000 people like that page. They pump out loads of posts (19 last week) and get ZERO ENGAGEMENT. I actually feel quite sorry for them and am considering offering them my services (!).
It hasn’t changed much from last week mainly because last week was so good too; I’m consistent. It won’t be long before I jump to third in this list (in terms of number of likes), but that doesn’t matter. I’d rather have fewer people more engaged, than a larger audience who don’t care; wouldn’t you?
Not only do I upload my videos on to Facebook, I put them on YouTube, Twitter, LinkedIn and Instagram (as long as it’s under 60″ seconds) too. It’s the one universal post that sits across all your platforms. Rarely can you take a piece of text and post it to all these platforms and it be received in the same way as a video.
This post is a rather embarrassing HUMBLE BOAST, and for that, I apologise. But by showing you my stats, hopefully you see that video IS the best medium to use currently. When that changes, I’ll adapt, but for the time being…. whip out your smart phone and start recording.
